It's Giving Season!

It's Giving Season!

Alison, Co-founder of Cutlery Couture, was sitting last week in the salon chair getting a pre-holiday and much needed zhuzh. And being Alison, she was chatting up her stylist, who told her about an inspirational initiative at a local high school. It was an a-ha moment! Help students help others? Yes, please!

Cutlery Couture is pleased to cruise into the Giving Season, kicked off with Thanksgiving next week, supporting “Operation Blessing”—an annual holiday “adopt a family” drive to support more than 100 families in the West Deptford, NJ school system.  Each year, donors provide clothing, shoes, toys, gift cards and more, checking items off holiday lists and providing wrapped gifts where there may not have been any.

“Operation Blessing” also fills grocery bags to stock the kitchens of local families that may be experiencing food insecurity. What a gift it is to open a cabinet and see plenty instead of lack! At the same time, the young people at the high school plan and coordinate the whole operation—it’s a win/win! This year, Cutlery Couture will adopt a family and hopefully provide a little holiday magic—the miracle of giving is that when you give, you get back so much more.

Students at high schools, churches, synagogues, mosques and community groups across the country have programs like this in place. Check out your own community. When you gather and give thanks this year at Thanksgiving and bow your heads to count your blessings, maybe add the gift of giving another family the chance to do the same.

And in that spirit, we want to remember that after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, comes Giving Tuesday— celebrating its 10th year of celebrating radical generosity. Whether you make a donation, volunteer or do a simple good deed, know that the ripples of kindness can become a wave.

Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving, from our well-set table to yours!
